As part two of my Social Media tips for the Digital Marketing Institute’s newsletter I have given my top 5 tips for restaurants using Twitter. Hopefully some of these will be helpful for your business too!
Top 5 Twitter Tips
1) Aim for Retweets
Twitter provides businesses with endless potential for extended broadcast reach through retweets. Remember to keep your tweets short and snappy to encourage others to retweet you.
2) Add Value with a Twitter Competition
Twitter competitions are easy to run and don’t carry the same rules and regulations that are needed on Facebook. Reward your Twitter followers with a competition for a free coffee with their next meal!
3) Measure Your Success
When you are measuring your success on Twitter make sure you track your URL’s using Bit.ly
links. By tracking your click through rate you will see what content is proving most popular with your followers making your content more informed and more effective.
They say Social Media is the age of collaboration and Twitter is the perfect channel to make strategic partnerships with fellow Twitter users. Are there complimentary businesses who could retweet your content in exchange for an endorsement? Maybe you could “share” and build Twitter followers by introducing each others content to your followers. Reach out to other businesses on Twitter and you’ll be surprised by who is willing to collaborate.
5) Embrace Social Media Innovations
Some restaurants are using clever Twitter tactics which add innovation and excitement to online interactions. Why not offer your followers the chance to earn a #TweetTreat or maybe even book #TweetSeats like the innovators at @CrackBirdDublin
Hope you found these Twitter tips helpful. Drop me a line if you think there’s other I should have added to the list!
