As we enter into December the inevitable “top ten most” and “year in review” articles begin to surface. But one article which I really enjoyed was Mashable’s “Top 20 most shared ads”.

A key part of Social Media marketing is enabling and encouraging consumer to consumer sharing of your content. This not only greatly increases your broadcast reach but now your content is travelling through a trusted source making it more relevant and accepted. In a world where we find that Trust in Advertising has fallen to 14% but Peer to Peer sharing can command trust as high at 70% (Nielsen, 2009) the true value of Social Media sharing can be seen.

And of course we can’t overlook the cost savings made through consumer to consumer sharing. One of the most shared videos in 2012 was for Banco Sabadell, a private Spanish Bank, which has earned close to 8 million views through social sharing. One only has to ask themselves how much 8 million views would cost in Traditional Advertising standards to gauge the true value of  Socially shared advertising.

So without further adieu, see below for some ads that you won’t want to skip through! Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
