On Saturday 10th of November I had the pleasure of being part of Aviva Stadium’s Social Media team for the Ireland V South Africa game. Although Ireland were fighting the good fight leading 12-3 at half time the Springboks came back with a vengeance in the second half winning the game 12-16.
We were based in the Media Centre in the Aviva Stadium posting updates to the Aviva Stadium Twitter account and Facebook page supplied by the Aviva Fan Reporters. I have always been a fan of Aviva’s attitude to Social Media and the way they have put it at the heart of their match day activations. A key part of their Social Media activity is the Aviva Fan Pic which invites stadium attendees to tag themselves in a panoramic picture of the stadium taken at half time. By enabling attendees to share their experience of being at the match, Aviva Stadium is able to organically reach a wider audience through social sharing. And this match saw the Aviva pass the milestone of 100,000 Facebook check-ins!
Congratulations Aviva Stadium, looking forward to the next time I get to check in!
